Squak Mountain State Park
Squak Mountain State Park Trailhead (SE May Valley Road Issaquah):
This trailhead provides parking, a restroom and provides access to the state park's southern flank trail system. There are several shared-use trails, horse/hiker, as well as hiker only trails. No drinking water.
Squak Mountain (about 2,000 feet high) is the second most westerly mountain of the Issaquah Alps mountain chain in the U.S. state of Washington. It is situated between Cougar Mountain to the west and Tiger Mountain to the south. Interstate 90 also parallels the base of the north side of the mountain. Squak Mountain, with more than 2,500 acres of public land, about 1,570 acres of Squak Mountain lie within Squak Mountain State Park; King County Parks owns another 1,000 acres or so.
Getting there: Squak Mountain State Park: From Seattle go east on Interstate 90, get off at Exit 17 (Front Street) and continue through Issaquah. After passing through town, Front Street becomes Issaquah-Hobart Road. After about two miles, turn right onto May Valley Road and continue about 1.5 miles to Squak Mountain State Park and facilities (right), elevation 340 feet.
Information: Dogs must be on leashes; no fires or camping allowed; some trails are multiple-use (see map for details). The Equestrian Loop is multiple-use; part of it is on the South Access Road.
