
Common Sense Courtesies
Wait until all riders are mounted before riding off.
Don’t crowd at watering places. Takes turns.
Wait for others to water their horses. Don’t ride away.
After navigating a difficult place in the trail, stop and wait for the next rider to cross before moving forward. Do this for all riders in line.
Warn others of holes or dangerous obstacles in the trail. Pass it on to the next rider.
Indicate to other riders if you’re going to stop on the trail. Use the hand/arm up signal.
Avoid bending branches and flipping them into the rider behind you.
Avoid rushing uphill or downhill.
Ride in the back of the group if your horse is unruly.
Don’t crowd. Give other horses plenty of room if navigating a difficult area or if a horse is acting up.
Tell the group if you need to stop for any reason. Notify the leader or rider ahead of you.
Don’t just ride for yourself.
Take others into consideration and be courteous.
Remember, your actions can affect the entire group.
